DigitalNation BMS — Add Your First Product

Adding your first product in BMS takes 5 minutes — name, category, price, and stock. BMS handles three product types: simple, variant, and IMEI-serialized. This tutorial walks you through digitizing your shop’s inventory step by step.

New stock just arrived. Boxes open, items on the counter — but your system is still empty. Four simple steps, and that changes forever.

Step 1: Create a Category

Location: /vendor/inventory → Categories
Capture: Category grid + "New Category" button

Before any product, it needs a home. Think “Mobile”, “Chargers”, “Cables” — the shelves of your digital shop.

  1. Open Products → Categories
  2. Click New Category
  3. Type the name → Save

Step 2: Start a New Product

Products → New Product.

Two fields, and you’re moving:

Field Example
Name Samsung A15
Category Mobile

Step 3: Choose the Product Type

Match the type to how you actually sell:

Type When to use it
Simple One price, one stock — like a charger
Variant Color, RAM, storage — like a phone
IMEI Every piece gets a unique number — for mobile shops
Batch/Expiry Expiry tracking matters — for pesticides

For most businesses: Simple is enough.

Step 4: Price & Stock

Location: /vendor/products/new → Pricing

Two prices, one number:

  • Purchase price — what you paid
  • Sale price — what you’ll sell for
  • Stock — how many pieces you have

Tip: Get the purchase price right. Your profit report depends on it.

Step 5: Save

Click Save. Done — your first product lives in the system.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set up product inventory software for my shop in Pakistan?

In BMS, create a category first, then add a new product — name, category, price, and stock. For a simple product, 5 minutes is enough. Variant and IMEI products take a bit longer — each variant or IMEI gets its own entry.

Can I edit a product later?

Yes — price, stock, name, image, everything. Nothing is locked.

Is a category mandatory?

Not required, but strongly recommended — your reports stay clean.

Can I add hundreds of products at once?

Yes — use CSV import to bring in bulk inventory in one go.

How do I track IMEI for mobile phones?

When adding a product, turn on the IMEI feature. Each unit gets its own IMEI slot. At sale time, pick the exact IMEI — the system records who bought it.
