DigitalNation BMS — Add Your First Customer

Add your first customer in BMS within 2 minutes — name, phone, CNIC, and opening balance (if there’s old credit). A registered customer’s full ledger builds automatically — every purchase, every payment, every due. This tutorial walks you through digitizing your customer accounts.

“Bhai, likh lo mera hisaab.” That one line is where your business and your ledger meet. Put them in the system once — and they never leave your pocket again.

Step 1: When to Register a Customer

Two kinds of customers walk through your door:

Type When to register
Walk-in Paid once, walked out — you never got the name
Registered Takes credit, comes back — you need a ledger

If money is owed, register them. Walk-ins don’t need a record — registered customers do.

Step 2: Start a New Customer

Open Customers → click Add Customer.

Step 3: Basic Details

Three fields — name is required, the rest optional:

Field Why it matters
Name The title of their ledger
Phone For reminders — also WhatsApp
CNIC Required for large credits

Tip: Enter the full phone number (03XX-XXXXXXX) — WhatsApp reminders go to this number.

Step 4: Opening Balance (If You Already Have a History)

If this customer already owes you — or already paid you in advance:

  • Due — money they owe you
  • Advance — money they’ve already paid ahead

For new customers: leave it empty — no history, no balance.

Step 5: Save

Click Save. Done — the customer is in the system, and their ledger is now in your hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I move my shop's customer accounts to business software in Pakistan?

In BMS, go to Customers → Add Customer — name, phone, CNIC, and if there’s old credit, the opening balance. The moment you save, the customer’s full ledger builds automatically — every purchase, every payment, every outstanding amount. Replace your notebook forever.

Can I edit a customer later?

Yes — name, phone, CNIC, all editable. History stays intact.

Is CNIC mandatory for every customer?

Not required, but always take it for large credits — it protects you. For installment customers, CNIC is mandatory.

I forgot an old udhaar — can I still add it?

Yes. Open the customer, use “Adjust Balance” to bring in any old dues.

Can I show the customer their own ledger?

Yes — in Customer Detail, build the “Ledger PDF” and send on WhatsApp. Or use the Customer Portal for them to see it themselves.
